Chania Monasteries and blessed nature paths (Private only)

Nowadays’ travelers want to learn a lot and explore unique elements of the original lifestyle in each place they visit. A very unique characteristic of older Greeks is their faith and their love for monasteries. On this tour, you will have the chance to see 3 monasteries, and also unique short paths next to two of the biggest monasteries of Crete. One of the paths is a botanical garden with small churches and the other one a great path that leads to an old monastic church where Saint John the Hermit lived. 

The plan

Picking you up by your accommodation place we start exploring the monasteries of Akrotiri. There we have the chance to see the beautiful monastery of the Holy Trinity, that former catholic monks built. An orthodox monastery that architecturally is very much affected by the Venetian era. Later, we visit another beautiful monastery of Akrotiri Peninsula, where we might have the chance to speak with the monks. They will inform us of important facts about the history of the monastery and monastic life. Then, we will start walking down the path where we will face Arkoudiotissa cave (which was dedicated to the Arkoudiotissa Panaghia – Our Lady). Ascetics lived in the caves of the area. Next, we see the beautiful monastic church where saint John the hermit lived. 

After visiting these two beautiful monasteries we will have the chance to visit two more monasteries. Most importantly, we will walk through a very nice botanical garden with small monastic churches after visiting Saint Kyriaki.  Visiting these monasteries and beautiful paths we will continue with a traditional lunch in order to finish this tour in the best possible way.
